In March, I attended an SCBWI seminar on graphic novels. Among the many facets I learned about graphic novels, I learned illustrators used different kinds of balloons for speech . Here are some examples:
Standard Text Balloons |
And some extreme examples...
...which I'm sure none of our readers would ever think:
How about you, dear reader?
What kind of balloons do you imagine holding your mental text?
Spot on, Lupe. You've totally captured my process.

This is great. Sometimes it feels like there's a big hammer hanging over my head, ready to crash down if I don't accomplish everything!
ReplyDeleteAlso, is it true, but getting to the end of a manuscript is like reaching the peak of a mountain. "How much longer 'til we're there?? It looked so close, but now there's just a bit more..."
Big hammer? I worry about the big Acme Anvil ready to crash on my head.

These are great! How about one with rays of light saying, "I need some inspiration!"
ReplyDeleteHow about "I have too much perspiration"?

Does the lonely whisper tell you to go into the kitchen at midnight and eat cookie dough?
